Superpowers vs skills — when to use which
Knowing which of the two ways of asking gets the better result for the task in front of you.
The steps
- A superpower is a framed run — Form in, document out, quality contract known in advance. Use one when the deliverable is standard — a competitor map, an SEO audit, an outreach sequence. You trade flexibility for reliability, and on standard deliverables that's the right trade.
- A skill is an ability used mid-conversation — Skills are what the employee reaches for while chatting — searching the web, reading a connected app, generating an image. You don't invoke them; you ask for the outcome and the employee picks its tools. The **Skills** tab shows what each employee can reach for.
- The rule of thumb — Standard document you'd recognize from a template → superpower. Anything conversational, exploratory or specific to right now → just ask in chat. When in doubt, ask in chat — the employee will suggest the superpower itself if one fits.
